Place of the contest is Pasilan Urheiluhalli (Pasila’s sports centre),

Announcements |
From 10 am till noon. Competitors should check in at least one hour
before the starting of the competition. If you have troubles arriving in
time, please e-mail Jarmo.Hassinen@Comets.fi

If you have to cancel your announcement, please contact Mr. Jarmo Hassinen
before the 2nd of September (6 pm).
Delayed announcements will be accepted only if they don't change the
timetable. |
| Information |
Information for the couples will be given in English and translated,
if needed,
into Swedish, German, Russian and French.
Guides can be distinguished from the flags on their T-shirts. |
| Training hall, warm up |
There is a training hall for competitors. Music playing there
is permitted only before the competition and during the breaks, but you
can hear the competition music also in the training hall.
In the training hall there is an information board for competitors,
where a copy of the competition timetable, dancing order and results of
each round will be found.
There are two assistants to guide and inform the competitors. |
| Public services |
There is a cafeteria at the competition place.
There will also be T-shirts and records selling, etc.
It is possible for the competitors to have a lasagne-meal at extra
cost (39 FIM). |
| TV-recording |
YLE, Finnish Broadcasting Company will record the competition for TV-broadcasting.
There will be no video made for sale. |
| Video recording |
Video recording with a tripod is permitted only in specific places
for
50/100 FIM. You can also record from your own seat without a tripod
for free, if you do not disturb the other spectators. |
| Dance Floor |
Dance floor The parquet is about 8 by 14 metres. Spectators will be
on both longer sides of the dance floor. The judges can move around the
dance floor. |
| Boogie Dancing World Cup competition is held according to the rules
of WRRC (http://www.wrrc.org).
In the semi-final and final, music is selected from the WRRC's Living-Music-Selection-List. |
Meetings and team leader´s duties
Boogie-Woogie
12 pm and
4:45 pm |
Every team (country) must name a team leader who must take part
in the meetings. Essential information will be given to the team leader
about competition timetable and other competition arrangements. After the
competition the team leaders can get the results from the board of secretaries.
The team leaders have to make sure that every couple arrives in time
(at latest
12 pm). They also have to check the couples' information in the couple
list before the first meeting. They must also make sure that all the
couples will be in the training hall ready for the nation presentation
at 5:50 pm. |
BDWC Qualification rounds
| 1 pm |
Welcome. There will be no nation presentation at this time.
Dancing order can be seen on the information board in the training
hall.
During the 1st Qualification round and the fast Consolation rounds
there will be three couples on the floor per heat.The couple called in
first should place itself furthest from the entrance gate.
The Last Consolation round is a slow round and there will be two couples
on the floor per heat - as well as in the Seeded round and the Quarter-finals. |
Nation presentation and competition opening

All BDWC competitors shall be in alphabetical order of the countries
(except Finland) in the training hall, ready for the nation presentation.

Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine
and Finland |

If the timetable allows, every country will have a dancing representation
of about
20 seconds.
After presentation the couples can sit on the dance floor starting
from the opposite side of the entrance gate, girl placed in front of the
boy.
During presentation, competitors wear preferably their national team
or club dress or their competition/show dress.
ALL the BDWC couples take part in the nation presentation.
Competition opening. The judges and important staff members will be
presented.
Couples make a queue and return lively to the training hall. |

Semi-final: 2 couples on the floor at the same time.
Final: one couple per heat. The music selection for the slow
and fast round will take place on the dance floor just before each round.
Between the rounds we will see a Lindy Hop and a Rock’n’Roll
Show. |

BDWC prize-giving ceremony |
Prize-giving ceremony
All finalists come to the prize-giving ceremony wearing their competition
dresses.
Line up for photo taking.
After line-up the finalists will dance for a minute. Changing partners
is recommended.
The three best couples are expected to give an interview for the press
right after the prize-giving ceremony in the pressroom. |
Results for team leaders
| The final results will be given to the team leader of every country. |
Time table and couples
Party time
Boogie Dancing Night Party will start at the competition place right
after the prize-giving ceremony. Free entrance for the competitors, team
leaders and audience.
The party will end at midnight. |
Accomodation
Floor level accommodation will be organised
in local schools free of charge for the competitors and team leaders Friday
and Saturday nights. The schools will be available from 9 pm till 8:30
am. Own mattress etc. needed. Detailed information below. Please contact

Workshop
On Sunday the 5th of September (from 9 am till 4:30 pm) we will have
a Boogie-Woogie workshop with the top couples of the competition as trainers.

LOCATION OF THE COMPETITION
PLACE, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING
Place of the competition is Pasilan Urheiluhalli (Pasila’s sports centre),
address: Radiokatu 22, Länsi-Pasila, Helsinki.
It is located about 4 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki. If you
take a taxi, it will cost about 70 FIM.
Pasila is about 20 kilometres from the airport. The taxi from there
costs about 120 FIM, or the airport-taxi about 100 FIM for 2-4 persons
or 60 FIM/person (no extra cost for the luggage). The airport-bus to the
centre of Helsinki costs 25 FIM/person. The local bus (number 615) costs
15 FIM and the ticket is also valid for the train or bus to Pasila from
the centre (an hour of changing time).
Pasila’s Railway station is about one kilometre from the competition
place.
All trains arriving to and parting from Helsinki stop also at Pasila
station.
There is also a taxi stand at the Pasila station.
Bus number 23 from the Helsinki Railway station via Pasila operates
just beside the competition place.

letter.
There is very limited parking space near the competition place.
We will try to arrange a transportation service from the airport, for
only the competitors and the team leaders, if you announce your flight
number, exact arrival time, number of persons and their names. The transportation
service must be booked in advance before 1.9.1999. You must also get a
confirmation. The limited transportation capacity may cause some waiting

Beginners-Intermediate and Intermediate
| Two levels combined.
You have been dancing Boogie-Woogie for almost a year now or you can
dance some other swing-dance(s). You are able to dance Boogie-Woogie relatively
well and you know several figures. You have an idea of how to interpret
the music.

Intermediate-Advanced and Advanced
| Two levels combined.
You have been dancing Boogie-Woogie for about three years. You master
the basics and know how to vary the basic figures and music interpretation.
You are able to dance easily to fast music.

PreCompetitors
| You have just begun to compete. You need to have your own partner in
this group. |
Competitors
| You have been competing for about two years. You know how to perform
to an audience. You need to have your own partner in this group. |

| You already have lots of experience in competing. You are not the last
couple in international competitions. You need to have your own partner
in this group.

Workshop costs 300 FIM/person.
Lunch break is an hour and a half, from noon till 1:30 pm, in restaurants
